Needs Our Help

Ronald McDonald House provides a “home-away-from-home” to entire families of seriously ill children, while they are being treated at nearby Children’s Hospital.

The Seattle Ronald McDonald House serves all of Western Washington and Alaska and is one of the largest in the country.  This non-profit organization relies on the kindness and generosity of our community for support.

Volunteer Opportunities

Along with the help of an all volunteer team of Lean Practitioners & Six Sigma Black Belts, Ronald McDonald House is working on streamlining & organizing their:

  • food donation processing, workflow & storage

  • facilities & maintenance workflow & storage

They need up to 25 volunteers at a time to help with sorting / organizing, posting signage, labeling and taking inventory (may require some lifting as you can see by the the photo)

The volunteer events at Ronald McDonald House will take place the following evenings from 5-9 pm:

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010
Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Ronald McDonald House is located in the Sand Point neighborhood of Seattle,
just south of the Metropolitan Market and Burke Gilman Trail.
Directions (if the parking lot is full, there is street parking)

Due to the weakened immune systems of the children at the House, volunteers cannot enter if they have:

  • a cold, flu or anything else that is contagious

  • been exposed to anyone contagious in the previous 24 hour period

  • had a nasal flu vaccine within the previous 7 days

Because of these strict policies in place to protect the children in their weakened condition, we need to recruit even more volunteers (assuming that some will need to cancel).

(Due to the nature of this project, the minimum age for volunteers is 18)
